occasion, the Board believes it is in the best interests of Pensioners to
engage in the lobbying of politicians (Local, Provincial, Federal) when their
pensions and/or benefits may be in jeopardy, or in danger of being
compromised. The last political
campaign sanctioned by the Board was in 2005, when lobbying efforts by our
members proved very successful in persuading the government of Premier Dalton
McGuinty to rescind the 5.1 election for Stelco Pension Plans. Currently there is no political campaign. Federation Activities The Canadian Federation Of Pensioners (CFP) is a
pensioner advocacy group whose primary objective is to improve the long-term
security of retiree Defined Benefit plan pensions by representing the interests
of pensioners in the development of public policy. CFP believes firmly in the strength in numbers to advocate on
behalf of pension groups and retirees for pension security and reform. SSPO is one of the three founding members of
CFP, along with Dupont/Invista, and Bell Pension Group. It has now grown to 25 groups representing
over 100,000 retirees. The CFP is a
non-profit volunteer organization of retiree pension groups. Check in to view periodic Federation

Salaried Retirees and active Salaried Employees was supplied by U. S. Steel to

that the committee can present the interests of the members, make suggestions,
and keep pensioners informed. The PAC

input into their administration. The
Committee is made up of Retirees, Active Employees, and Company
Representatives. Some of the SSPO
