IT’S TIME TO LOBBY YOUR ELECTED MUNICIPAL REPRESENTATIVES NOW

To Members of SSPO:

It is now critical that we lobby the different levels of government to inform them of our concern over Stelco’s stated intention of addressing what they call “the high cash funding cost for pension plans and other employee benefit plans.” It is clear that the pensions and benefits of Stelco’s salaried pensioners are under threat. We have been told by our legal counsel that the importance of the political pressure that can be applied by you cannot be overstated.

In addition to you communicating with your elected Representative it will be important for you to get family members and friends to do the same.

The “Backgrounder” below deals mainly with pension issues; we will deal with the benefits issue later when we have clarified pertinent legal and legislative issues.
