Let the party begin. We have a large committee working on making this year’s bonspiel an event to remember. The bonspiel will be held at the Welland Curling Club on February 15th and 16th. For this special occasion, the following changes have been made:
- We are organizing a big reception for Friday evening, starting at 5 o’clock at the Polish Hall (just around the corner from the curling club).
- The cost per team is $120, which includes three six end games (see the application attached for the exact schedule), a 50th anniversary pin for all team members and four tickets to the reception, which will include a light meal and a draw for door prizes. Additional tickets to the reception are available at $5 each, which will include the meal, a pin and the draw. If you are bringing more than four members, please include the cost of the additional reception tickets with your entry fee.
- We are allowing unlimited substitutions on the teams this year. If you have a former participant who wants to throw just a rock or two or just watch, bring him out. The emphasize will be on camaraderie and fun, with a chance to meet some old acquaintances.
We would
like your help with a few items:

We
want to make sure we get in touch with as many former participants as possible.
If you have contact information for anyone, we would appreciate you letting us
know. Don MacDonald, Randy Haber, Wilf Darby and myself will be coordinating
the search.

If
you have any old pictures or memorabilia of the bonspiel, we would like to
borrow them. Pat Mousseau and Stan Shiriashi are coordinating the development
of a powerpoint presentation and history for the reception.

We
would like everyone to submit their favourite or most memorable moment about
the bonspiel. We will include as many as possible in the history (names can be
omitted to protect the innocent).

If
you are able to obtain any door prizes for the reception, let Wayne Bowyer, Jim
Hoult, Brian Jackson or myself know.

The
closing date for entries is December14. Please submit your entry as soon as possible, which will help guarantee
you a spot and help us coordinate the entries. We are limited to just 64 teams
for the curling.

The eligibility rules are the same as
last year, as detailed on the attached application.

If you or someone you know might be
interested in participating but does not have a team, please let us know. We
will do everything possible to get them on a compatible team.

congratulations go to last year’s winners of the H.M.
Griffith Trophy: Al McChesney, Stan Anslow, Dave St. Martin and Doug McLean.

Our congratulations also go to “Sofa
King Good” skipped by Jeff Herdman, with Brent Rosart, Errol Hilado, and Barry
Miller, who were victorious in the competition for the Happy Hackers Trophy
(they are good). Last but not least, the winners of the Good Fellowship Team
Award were the “Vic Selects” team with Bill
Clarke, Earl
MacKinnon, Bob Thomson, Ted Lister and John Martin.
