UPDATE – UNILATERAL REDUCTION IN HEALTH BENEFITS BY STELCO INC.
Dear Member
Following discussions with our legal counsel, the SSPO Board has issued a response to the Company, and is currently awaiting a reply to our request for a meeting with Stelco President & CEO Rodney Mott. A further update will be issued following the outcome of those discussions.
In the meantime if you have not already done so, we are urging each of our members to contact the Stelco Human Resources Department to table your concerns and objections to reductions in Health Benefits for retirees. The phone number is 905-577-4488.
UPDATE – PENSION ADVISORY COMMITTEE BALLOT RESULTS
Returned Ballots from retirees were officially counted on May 17th in the presence of an independent scrutinizer, and the results were certified by sworn affidavit. We are pleased to announce that pensioners voted overwhelmingly in support for the establishment of a Pension Advisory Committee(s).

SASSEA recently completed a poll of current active salaried employees who are members of the Plan(s), and experienced similar results. The Joint (SSPO/SASSEA) Interim Pension Advisory Committee will now request a meeting with Stelco to review the outcome of the ballot and the establishment of a formal PAC. A further update will be issued following the outcome of those discussions.
