TERRY PARKER
Heating co-ordinator, worked at the Hilton Works plant for
36 years
"I am very scared because we have contract negotiations
coming up. I think they want to separate the companies up and hang us out to
dry. I am worried we won't get a decent contract."
BOB FERGUSON
Tractor operator, worked at Hilton Works plant for 33 years
"Change is great. We have had some bad management and I
believe the new management will do a good job. I am happy."
SCOTT DUVALL
Stelwire union president of Local 5328
"The new owners have a lot of work to do because the
company has been run into the ground. But coming out of bankruptcy protection
has a lot of people relieved."
BOB ATKINSON
Mill service operator, worked at Hilton Works plant for 32
years
"I am relieved we have some new owners. Hopefully they
can turn things around. I think they will."
DAVID GRADWELL
Mill service operator, worked at Hilton Works plant for 33
years
"I think things will work with the new owners as long
as they don't touch the pensions. I am eligible to retire soon and I want it to
be there when I do."
BRENDA NESS
Owns Cagney's Pub, depends on Stelco employees for business
"It's comforting to know they will still have their
jobs, and the guys seem a lot happier and not as worried as they did six months
ago."
